Weight loss, as well as maintaining a healthy weight, is a challenge that can sometimes seem insurmountable. If you are struggling with your weight, you are not alone! According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 70.7 percent of adults who are 20 years of age and older are considered to be overweight and/or obese. This is especially worrying because obesity can lead to a number of serious, and sometimes even fatal, health conditions.

Last month The American Medical Association (AMA) – the largest organization of physicians in the United States – formerly recognized obesity as a disease. The AMA took this step to focus attention on this country’s obesity epidemic and advance obesity treatment and prevention. In doing so the AMA joins a number of leading organizations that have previously recommended this classification, including the National Institutes of Health, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and The Obesity Society.
